Ho 5:12 Therefore [will] I [be] unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.
Whether or not you receive or believe anything that might be written, here’s an absolute; you will stand before the Judge of all the earth. Another indisputable fact is that no one knows the day or hour when this will be. You might be making long term plans for life here but you don’t know how long your span of life might be. I believe, as the day nears, for the child of God that is in a life-mode of fellowship with his Lord, it will not come upon him unaware. Moses, get you up into this mountain for you shall die. David knew. 1Ki 2:2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; Joshua said, I am old and stricken in age. This was nearing the close of his life here. Previous to that, in his earlier years, it was told to him by the One that knows all things; he was old and stricken in years.
Jos 13:1 Now Joshua was old [and] stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old [and] stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
There is not a one of us that truly knows our condition and it is a mercy of God to be made aware of who we are in Adam, and in him, have no strength or ability. Paul, maybe the greatest disciple and apostle that ever followed the Lord, had the awareness within his heart that his days were drawing to a close.
2Ti 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
One thing that takes place every day in our society is thousands spend their last day here without any thought or consideration of it being their last. It has become a land of sudden death.
Pr 29:1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth [his] neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
As to any of the others, that are not in a life-mode of walking with the Lord, it will come upon them when they are not looking or expecting.
Mt 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
There is such a thing as a Christian losing fellowship and an intimate relationship with Christ due to a grieved Spirit. In this state, the conscious becomes more and more calloused and one loses any discernment as far as knowing the differing seasons of life.
Lu 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares.
Rom 12:2 Be not conformed to this world… The degree to which you are conformed to the spirit of this age will be the degree to which your spiritual discernment becomes dull, your affections waning, and your conscience insensitive.
Here is the reality of the age in which we live; most are living a life of presumption. “I have done what someone told me. I believe I am a Christian, therefore I am.” The pride of thy heart hath deceived thee; a warning from Jeremiah to the professing people of God. There is within a false reasoning and presumption that if I step out of the way, the Lord will immediately correct me. Since nothing drastic has happened to me, I must be alright. That will not always be true for often, in an age where God has been reduced to ‘the man upstairs’ or a ‘kind, loving, grandfather figure’, He will become as a moth which destroys where there is absolutely no consciousness of it at work. Jonah was the only one asleep on that ship.
I will be unto Ephraim as a moth.
A little boy was born few thousand years ago and when his father looked at him, he saw in that face, that which elevated his mind and heart above all the things he had been through over the past years. God has caused me to forget all my toil and my father’s house. He did not have the events of the past removed from his mind, but they now had no hold or sway over his life.
Sometime later a second son was born and once again, Joseph, saw the blessings of God in him and called his name Ephraim or “God has made me fruitful.’
When Joseph brought these to his dying father, he had placed them so when they faced Jacob, his right hand would be placed upon the head of the 1st born. It was not to be. Even though Jacob had poor eye sight now, he had discernment and placed his right hand upon the head of the second born son.
Seeing what God had done and how he had elevated Ephraim, you would think that when the husbandman came to the vineyard, he would be expecting fruit. Instead, he found that Ephraim had joined himself to idols, which brought about the judgment of God; “let him alone.” The health-wealth gospel has most looking at the externals. If one is living right, he will have wealth and health, but if not, he will have visible judgment against him; this is not always true for the judgments of God are oft times spiritual.
There is no middle ground between carnality and spirituality. We are either for or against the Lord. You are either progressing on to know him or you are drifting farther away. Due to a lack of the Spirit working in this day, the so called gospel is making its appeal to the natural man. Their thoughts and presentation of heaven is so earthly that it is only one moving into a realm where there are no tears, pain, or things of life which aggravate. It is almost as if Christ is an afterthought. ‘Oh, yea, if you make it, you will see Christ.
There are very few that would acknowledge that our country is and has been under the judgment of God for some time. Some that are spiritually minded can see something of the judgment of God but as far as the country is concerned, God is as a moth. The very foundation has been eaten away, or as God said to Judah, ‘I will be unto thee as rottenness.’
If the Lord would send a swarm of flies, locust, hail, or boils breaking out on men, the world might look on and say, this is the hand of God. That very thing isn’t possible in this day because the being of God has been so distorted in this generation; no one sees judgment in floods, fires, tornadoes, or hurricanes. These all are just freak happenings in nature. When a people have been given special graces, such as being members in a nation elected of God to be his people, given his law, rituals, and ordinances, he will not deal with them as he does an unbelieving world. His judgment against them will be in silence and secretively. You won’t hear; I won’t speak. You won’t judge yourselves; therefore, my judgment against you will be as a moth or rottenness. You will just be aroused out of sleep, wherein you have laid your head on the harlot’s lap, and find you have no strength to go against your enemy. He did not know that the Lord was departed from him. Through Amos, God foretold of coming judgment against Israel because she had sinned, but he said, 5:13 the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
The Lord has a few places where his people gather and to them he sends warning, but to the nation, he is as a moth and the silence of God abounds here. I do not know but God warns but very few people, even in the places where his church gathers. Most can do just about anything they desire without a check or warning.
Pr 14:15 The simple (foolish, open minded) believeth every word: but the prudent (wise) man looketh well to his going.
Pr 22:3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
You did not take advantage of the means of nourishing your soul or maintaining a distinct separation from religion or the world; now when you find a need for strength, the moths will have eaten it. If you flirt with religion by letting doubts linger or give them a little space in your thinking, these little moths will eat away at the vitals of true Christianity, until you have no resemblance of a Christian. ‘Maybe, the way is not as narrow as the pastor would try to make it. It might be that many of these really did get saved years ago but have just been backslide for a long time. Christianity does not mean so great a dedication as to lose our identity or lifestyle in the world.’
Ho 7:8 Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
Ho 7:9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth [it] not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
JUDGMENT ABOUNDS BUT THE GREATER PART OF THAT JUDGMENT IS UN-DECTABLE BY THE MASSES OF PEOPLE.
God is acting as a moth or rottenness, for when the Lord departs, or the white horse rider (Gospel) has gone through a land, if the truth is rejected, the only thing left is judgment. That judgment is unnoticed for it is as a moth.
It would be a great mercy of God to awaken some out of this sleep of death and once again bring men into an awareness of eternity and having to stand before the Judge of all the earth.
